UlcerGard is currently the only non-prescription, FDA-approved product intended for the prevention of gastric ulcers in healthy horses for up to 28 days. A daily dose should be administered to horses during times of excessive stress, such as a change in routine, limited or no turnout, inconsistent meal schedules, confinement, traveling, training, racing, showing or competition.
Dosage: For 600-1,200 lb horse, give 1 mg on back of tongue or deep in cheek pouch; Over 1,200 lbs, give 2 mg. For horses under 600 lbs, consult a veterinarian. Contains 2.28 gms omeprazole per tube. May be safely used in breeding stallions; safety in pregnant mares has not been determined.
